Not horrible, but nothing to write home about, either. From other reviews, we must have been there on a bad day for service. It was "interesting", we were not familiar with the menu, so took a few minutes to pick the entrees and felt pressured to do so; however, if you wanted more salsa or another drink, the server was nowhere to be found. May have added another star if service was better, but it wasn't. Fairly Americanized TexMex / strip center fare. Salsa was bland (was at least habanero sauce on table to be able to add to it), lacking of much in the way of spices (cilantro, et. al.) Chips were tepid (at best.) The entrees were pretty bland as well, not much in the way of seasoning in them. The servings were not small nor huge, but wife said she thought menu was a bit higher than where we are from and Fort Wayne as well. Although have not been to other places in Columbia City that serve TexMex, if they are all like this one, take comfort at your local Taco Bell knowing you are not missing a thing.

Decent fare. It does not wow me. I have had better in Fort Wayne, but sometimes I do not feel like driving a half hour and waiting to be seated. I found the salsa to be bland and unimaginative. My meal was acceptable but nothing to write about. As another reviewer stated the service is a bit slow.

I didn't heed the other reviews and decided to try it. Please, don't waste your time and money. We are VERY easy to please. The waitress did come back one time, not even to bring the check. When I got up to get it, she was sitting buried in her Iphone. The salsa truly wasn't more than tomato sauce with a little heat. The beef was very salty without much flavor. Drive the half hour to Ft Wayne and dine at one of the many Mexican places there. Please, I should have...

What you'd expect when seeing it from the outside. Quick, marginal quality Mexican fare. Extra star for ample chips and salsa .

Great food, good service, good price. Get the Special LaCasa and Queso. Best Mexican food in Columbia City.

On the positive side of things, the waitresses were all very friendly, and we and the other couple that shared dinner here last weekend had a good time. And the pico de gallo was pretty good. But, you could tell things were run on a tight budget. The tomatoes were closer to white than red. The salsa was puréed and not very tasty. Our salsa dishes were refilled at the table out of a 1 gallon jug. (Slurp-slurp, here's your 'fresh' salsa.) It kind of made me think that we were at some body's house and we were being served whatever was available...in a very relaxed ho-hum environment. The main dishes were OK, but I think we've all had better versions in other Mexican places. (My Quesadilla had an overwhelming amount of cheese in it which I usually don't expect.) Even walking into the place makes one feel a bit odd. There is no separation from the entrance to the main dining area, which is just large rectangular room. Walk in, and everybody glances over to see who it is. And when everyone glances, they stop talking, so there were some times it got really quiet. Weird. On the kind-of humorous side, there is a part of the menu that reads "2 buckets of chips free...after that you will be charged." Is that 2 buckets per person, or 2 buckets per table? But really, if you need to put that on the menu you may have other more serious problems with your customers. I believe that they could do better and it wouldn't take much...I am hoping that they do because I really miss having a good Mexican place in Columbia City.

When your grandma suggests the local Mexican restaurant in the same breath as Taco Bell, you don't really expect much. I should note that for Columbia City standards, this place is probably 4-star, but I am one of those snobby Chicagoans. Or at least, Chicago suburbians. My standards are fairly high but there is nothing wrong with a 3-star place. This strip-mall restaurant is clean and bright, with loud decor and prompt service. It's clearly family-run and the menu features a long list of various combination platters and house specialties. The sign outside proclaims Los Tequilas to have the Best Margaritas In Town but something tells me there's not much competition. The salsa was plentiful, the chips warm and crispy. But I felt I had to jazz my salsa up with a shake of salt and a few dashes of the Los Tapatios hot sauce provided; it was low on cilantro and tasted of tomato paste. My chilaquiles were quite delicious, though, with a great sauce melding the chicken and tortillas, and the whole thing was slathered in cheese. My grandma enjoyed her taco, and my mom's enchiladas looked good. Fairly Americanized stuff, but it's made with love and the flavors were very pleasing, plus the service was good and prices were reasonable. I've always considered Columbia City a bit of a food wasteland, but I would eat at Los Tequilas again.

If you are just looking for chips & salsa you will be disappointed, their salsa is very mild due to complaints of it being too spicy, so doctor it up with the green sauce on the table and order any dish with the fajitas. My favorite is the fajita quesadilla, INCREDIBLE!!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
